Embassy Banksy Tag

Last week I was able to reveal a few photos I took of Banksy art inside the Swiss Embassy in London.

One of the curiosities in the Embassy basement is a huge Banksy tag.  The last time I saw a stencilled Banksy tag that big was on the side of the Turboisland truck, believed to be painted in 2000, the same year that Banksy painted in the Embassy garage.

In 1998 Banksy painted the Fragile Silence truck showing commandoes landing a sound system on a beach, this appeared cut up and mounted in a London display of various street Banksys staged by Sincura.  The letter a in the 1998 Banksy tag is quite different from the two 2000 versions.   Whole essay’s have been written on the variations in Banksy’s stencil and freehand signatures.

I managed my 4th visit to the garage earlier this month, it was nice to see Mona Lisa still there, fortunately she remains oblivious to the sniper’s rifle view and isn’t too fussy about the company she keeps.
